North Head picnic

Monday 7 January

Claude is still on holidays.
He thought he was starting today.

When I went for my Pilate class he came too
and went for a walk from Harbour to Manly.

When we park the car there was just a seat
so we had our sandwiches there.
We went to North head hoping to catch
a bit of a breeze but the air was still
and it was very hot.
So after eating we went home to
rest and read on our deck.

Claude is back at work tomorrow for
a few weeks before his retirement.

Glebe and the yellow duck

Sunday 6 January

We drove to Glebe to have lunch at a cafe
with a very nice view.
"Blackwattle cafe"
When we arrived there was no table free.
So we went inside and sat by a window.
When table became avalaible we decided
to stay where we were.
It was a VERY HOT DAY.

Then we walk to Darling Harbor.
Boy we were SO hot.
We drank and drank so much water.

Festival of Sydney
Darling Harbor has a giant yellow duck

they had trouble bringing it through the bridge (at the back)
they had to deflate it a bit.

The posters in Darling Harbor were saying;
Darling Harbor activities:
Free (??? forgot) metres high yellow duck

Canoeing

Friday 4 January

Early this morning we drove to the
Royal National Park
to do some canoeing.

this photo is for Christopher...
He likes taking views framed by his feet.
So now I do the same and each time
he sent me one, I sent him some too.

I was ready with the camera just in case he fell in.!!!

We stop on the riverside to have our picnic

Claude went for a swim

Painting

Thursday 3 January

This morning I went for my mall walk and
do the weekly shopping.

Claude scrub the old paint from the wood
fronting of the kitchen.
And then paint.

He did a very nice job.
But now we can see what else there is to do.

Collecting

Wednesday 2 January

The day was overcast.
We went stones collecting.
We went to one end of Newport beach
where we know there is a lot of rocks.

big tide= algae on the beach

somebody had built a little house of stones

Me being discreet while putting stones in my bag.
Claude refuse to steal.

After we walk the whole length of the beach,
Claude carrying the stone in a back pack.

Claude putting our loot around the roots of the
kumquat tree. It is not doing very well.
It had a lot of flowers and dropped them all.
So we are trying to keep its roots cool.

I think we will have to go again to collect
some more.

A New Year start: 2013

A New year

2013

Tuesday 1 January

We watched Sydney midnight fireworks
on TV with a glass of champagne

We had a very lazy, relaxing morning.
After lunch we walk the whole length of Curl Curl beach

Our new year resolution:
If we go to the beach...we have to go in the water.
I think it was meant: to have a swim !!!!

Heard on the radio this morning: At least 66 tons of rubbishes being clean up from Sydney streets after the
new year celebrations......
What a lot of dirty people, shame, shame, shame.

New Year Eve

NEW YEAR EVE

Monday 31 December

It was a very hot day.
Claude had decided to go and have lunch at
Saint Albans

The Settlers Arms.
The pub where we had a ploughman lunch

We found a nice spot under a shady tree.
We had only 1 glass of wine but we felt drunk.
We had to drink a bottle of water and had a strong coffee.
It must be because of the heat.

We came by the Saint Albans ferry but gone back
by the Wiseman ferry

3 birds on 3 poles
(well there was 4 of each but the other one was too far)

When we got home, we noticed that this
plant Claude is putting in the ground was
cut. Our neighbour  had cut his lawn and
being helpful trim our bit of footpath lawn
near his place (we do it too)
He must have thought it was a weed!!!

By 6pm we were at a vantage spot to see
the 9pm firework in Manly
The other spot we had was too windy.

We had a very good spot

I made some boxed dinner of antipasto

and we had the Champagne

We saw the barge arrive, oh what a good spot !!!

getting cold

Back home to wait for 12 o'clock
