Friday 29 April
When we came back with the new car,
the workmen had finished for the day.
They have been here for a week.
Most of the time it rained.
Pergola, the saga:
We had a quote for the new pergola.
We had the old pergola demolished
and taken away.
We had a new facia put on,
the old one was rotten.
It took for ever, the guys turned up for
short time now and then.
Then the old guy hurt his back.
We were quote $700 for the new facia.
It finely cost us almost double.
The pergola people came to install the
new pergola and refused to do it:
The facia was all wrong.
Claude refused to call the old guy back.
We had to find someone else.
Nobody wanted the job.
One day a painter rang to see if we had any job
for him, big or small.
Claude told him we did not have any painting
job but we needed a carpenter.
Lucky strike.
The painter belong to a group guys doing
home maintenance.
The carpenter came removed the old/new facia
and install a new one ($5000 later)
Pergola people came to inspect...OK,
then the rain set in.
We had a quote to redo all the facia around the house
$30 000
Does anybody knows of a cheaper
carpenter?
