Manly 16 ft Skiff sailing Club

Friday 30 July

We parked the car in Fairlight and took
the scenic pathway to Manly
It is a warm day 21 degrees
but very cloudy. Claude took
the umbrella with him.

We went for lunch at the skiff club

we had a nice view of the boats and the ferries

oh oh forgot to say "no anchovies"
never mind there was not any.
A bit pricey, we won't go there again.
Then we walk to Manly beach

The Corso was crowded.

We saw some unusual plantes!!!!!

The fountain was not working.
I read in the Daily that they were going to
put it on again but it does not look like it.
It is in the shape of a shell with fine spray going
over it. The wind make the spray wet the
pavement and people if they are too near.
so they stop it in case of accident.
Some people have named it
"steaming poo"

Amelia is back

Tuesday 27 July
Amelia and her family are back
from their month long holidays
in France.
Boy i missed the monster!

I think she is saying:
"oh no here we go again with the camera"
Wednesday
I combed her hair and put a clip in.
her hair is a bit longer.

We did not go out it rained most
of the day and we were tired
after a bad night.
Amelia woke up a 1 am. When I
went to her she gave me her dummies.
This means "I want to get up"
I settle her down again and I
just arrive at my bed and she
was screaming. So I took her
for a walk around the house, not
putting any lights on to show her
that it was night time and we sat
cuddling on the sofa for a while.
I though that she will settle but
boy was I wrong. She has become
very loud and also she was stamping
her feet in the cot.
At 6 am we were all up having
breakfast. After I decided to go back
to bed and took Amelia with me.
She then fall asleep pressed against me.

Mooney Mooney

Sunday 25 July
It has been raining, but we wanted to
get out for a drive...
We decided to go to St Albans for a
ploughman lunch at the old pub.
But the Galston Gorges road was closed.
So then we decided to go to Brooklyn.
It has been a while since we went there.

Near Brooklyn we saw the sign of the
Mooney Mooney club and Claude
remember Jo telling him of a nice
lunch she had there.
So we end up there.
We had a nice hot lamb salad, a glass
of wine and a cafe.
We sat outside on the terrace of the bistro.
we were in the sun but we had a sun shower.
The restaurant part had the rain protection
down it must have cut their nice view.
We had a bit of the view and also we
were watching the bowlers.
After lunch we went next door and bought
some oysters for that night.
on our way to Brooklyn the heaven
open and it pour and pour.
We only drove around, we could not
go for a walk.
In the park at the top we saw some
big black bird, a bit like a turkey
but with a nice yellow neck and
a red head.

Clovelly to Bondi walk

Sunday 18 July
we read in our local paper that
there was a lot of whale sightings.
So we decided to go and try to spot some.

Claude on the nice walkway from Clovelly to Bondi
It look very impressive.
on the rock platform a big hole with
the sea moving underneath.

Something new we discovered on the walk.
They have put some little statues with stories.
very interesting!
there use to be lovely one in Manly but
somebody stole the best ones.

on top of the rock with the starfish
they show some whale carvings
apparently there is some around here!
(carving I mean)
the top of the hill of Marks park
where we had our picnic
view from the top: one way Mackenzies bay
with Tamarama bay just behind.
And on the other side Bondi beach
Bondi Beach something was going on there
We could hear the loud speakers while
having our picnic.
WHALES!!!!!!!
There is whales, but we are too far we
could only see the spray.
The word must have gone out as a lot
of tourist boats were making there way to watch.
This morning a swimming club ( the icebergs I think)
were having races.
People were still swimming in the late afternoon

Visit to Middle Head

Sunday 4 th July
I packed up a picnic and we went to visit Middle
Harbor National park.
It is a while since we went there.

Shane and his friends shot a movie there

BUT, now they have started to but railings
everywhere.
It spoil the charm of the place.

We found a nice shelter spot to enjoy
our picnic with the view
Claude enjoying his picnic lunch.

There was lot of wind and the sailing ships
were using their spinnakers.

Last time we came here this old house was
all closed up. We thought it would make a
nice restaurant. Well they stole our ideas.
It is now a nice cafe and a boutique. But it
was lunch time and we could not get a coffee
all the tables were reserved or taken.
Another change about the place is now
you have to pay parking almost everywhere.

The old army cottages, hospital ect
are being restored some by the
national trust and some by the
harbor trust.
they are renting them out, most
of them to artists (that we could see)

Broome Holidays (day eight)

1st of July
End of the holidays
I must be on my going home mode
I forgot to take photos of the resort
and our rooms.
Mostly the shower head.
It was HUGE.
I have never seen such a large
shower head.

On our way through Perth we saw again
Christopher
We had only a bit over 1 hour so we went
to Dome for drinks and Topher lunch.
We already had lunch in the plane.

July 2nd
Our camellia has beautiful flower.
the stupid tree never has any when we
are home .

End of a lovely holiday
Broome is very nice, I like it but then I also like
Derby. So I must have a funny taste.
There was a lot to see and I think we saw
most of it in the week there.

Broome Holidays (day seven)

Wednesday 30 June
Claude Birthday
First rainy day

After breakfast (croissants) we went and did
a bit of shopping....
for Claude birthday present I got him those
lovely pearls
Gantheaume point
the only remaining structure of
the light house keeper cottage
Beautiful blue sea
you can see the grey sky.
We had few showers on and off all day.
But it did not stop us as it is the last full day
of our holidays.

Anastasia's pool
is a small man-made pool built by the
former lighthouse keeper for his arthritic wife.
the tide fill the pool and the sun warm the water.
His wife found relief bathing in it.

the pool is on this ledge

plaster copy
At low tide, below Anastasia pool there is
dinosaur prints in the rock.
we could not see them today.
we went for a drive in the beautiful red roads

Broome jetty

we were told of the "crystal Buddha"
well it turn out it was marble!

Birthday boy.
This morning we went to look at possibilities
for diner. We narrow it to 3 restaurants
BUT what we did not take in consideration
was the rain....
Broome restaurants has few sittings inside
and the rest is outside.
Everywhere was full when we got there
we even drop at the Zoo cafe and they
suggested we try the ZEE bar across the
road.
After all the running around we gave up and
went to the Zee bar.
It was full of tourist like us having nowhere to eat.
We had to eat sitting on a banquette and
eating on a coffee table.
The food was fabulous, nice steaks
We were having a glass of Shiraz when we
remember it was Claude Birthday so
we started on a champagne.
We were drank, we had to have coffee and Claude had
a nice piece of cake.
What started at a disaster of an evening
end up as a very good, memorable day.
We really had a good time.
