The bird house

We have a lot of Rainbow lorikeets in our garden. Amelia loves looking at them.
They always come when we are eating on the deck

I feed the other birds left over bread but the lorikeets shoo them away and eat it too!!!

Claude bought a bird house at the Eumundi market. He took a long time to choose it. Daniel, Margaret and I went for a walk and when we came back he still had not chosen one. There was so many and all were a bit different. Ours has a corrugated roof and a chimney, some branches with some kind of nuts.
Some birds had a look and see but no bird move in....One day I thought I saw something in it. I got the binoculars .....and there was a possum in it. He stayed there few weeks until Claude mulched some branches and the noise drove him away. Anyway he was quite squashed in there

Claude thought that the opening was too big, so he made it smaller, but the next day something had try to make it bigger by chewing around the hole.!

We still have a lot of birds around but none in our bird house.
On Saturday at the garden festival we saw some possum house. We are going to build one and maybe the possum in our roof will like it and move in the box and out of our roof.

Woollongong bike ride

Around 10am we stopped at the Royal National Park for morning tea. It was very peaceful, only few canoes on the river. We shared our fruit toasts with the ducks and cockatoos.
We rode our bikes along the sea side in Woollongong, We did about 15km and stopped near the lighthouse for a pic nic. This is our view. We had a very leisure lunch while sun baking.

our spot, on the slope

me riding near the little lighthouse down the harbord.
We rode about 35km today. the wind was in our face going back. It made it very hard to press on. We did not do too much speed. ( everyboby was overtaking us)

Ku-ring-gai garden festival & growers market

Yesterday, Saturday, we went to the garden festival. We had a coffee while listening to " jazz Connections" they were pretty good.
We walk around all the stalls. Wires had a stall and I pat a blue tongue lizard. We saw some possum boxes and we are planning to build one for our possum. It might come out of our roof.

Claude wanted to watch the "Flamenco del Mar". It was very strange to see a chinese girl dancing it. The world is getting smaller.

And "black thumb" bought a new plant. I wonder how long it will survive the Andre's garden.

Manly dam BBQ for National seniors.

Some of the men were in charge of cooking the sausages.
Zoe is always in charge of the salads. This time she made one of green beans with cubes of sweet potatoes, very good. Another good one was a gratted carrot salad with ginger, divine.

dig in, don't wait

Peter and Roger hugging the bar
( a cask of red and one of white and a bottle of orange juice)

Pack up our chairs and we are leaving. A lovely day relaxing with friends in a peacefull environment. Manly Dam reserve is very beautiful and just behind were most of us live.

Victorian bushfire benefit concert

We started the day with a bike ride from Narrabeen lake to the beach.
Before 2.30pm we were at the old St Patrick Seminary in Manly. The Catholic church sold the property and it is now an International college of management. The students learn everything from taking a booking to cooking a grandiose meal.
The students organised a concert to raise funds for resourses for the three schools destroyed in the victorin February bushfires.(Strathewen,Marysville and Middle Kinglade rimary schools)

It was in a lovely setting.......right on the hill in Manly.

The flags ceremony. the students come from 65 countries.

me behind the flags

the group Harvest.

One thing the students forgot.......ADVERTISING.!

The crowd was very sparse. I saw the article in our local paper few weeks ago but nothing since.
It was a shame. I was feeling very inconfortable for them. They put so much work into it and nobody turn up.

there was more staff/students than paying guest.

some girls dancing on stilts to entertain the children.

The day finished with a beautiful sunset.

We watched the parade on Park street. We had a good spot. The bands were great.

of course a lot of Guinness

even the dos were marching

Ned Kelly and his gang were fighting the cops.
We almost got in the cross fire of the water buckets

That guy was looking cute with his green hair

This baby was wearing a crown of shamrock and there was shamrock on his sock too. His mother was holding him in the air and his little legs were going verry fast to the music. He was doing the jigg. Verry cute.
