Port Douglas holidays :day 9

Wednesday 10 June

It was a bit of a grey day.

Driving around Port Douglas

We used our rental car to go down memories lane.
First we drove to Palm Cove.

We drove around to where we used to rent.
Parking was hard to find, there were temporary gates everywhere
ready for the next day start of the triathlon.

Then we drove on to Cairns, were we used to stay too.
It was raining but only little showers now and then.
We had our raincoat but it was too hot to keep
them on.

Found a nice spot at the marina for lunch

Then we drove on to Kuranda.
I hoped that the market was still on.
It was only 3.30 pm when we arrived.
They were closing  down but I still
found the shop to buy another watch as the one I bought
there is broken and I really liked it.

the last train was leaving the station before we arrived

Driving back we stop at a look out of Mareeba

Port Douglas Holidays: day 8

Tuesday 8 June

By 8am we were at the car rental picking our car.
We are on our way to Cooktown.

We stopped at Black mountain
It was fascinating.

Cooktown old post office

We drove around looking for a place for lunch
This looks nice.
We had a Moroccan chicken Caesar salad.

After lunch we left the car were it was and went
visiting the town on foot.

these steps were built for the visit of the queen,
for her to come ashore from her ship.

By car we went to this lovely beach

 the light house on
Grassy hill and the Cook lookout

nice panorama but very windy

We spent a lovely day in Cooktown.
The drive was long but very pleasant.
The car, a Hyundai i30 was roomy and very smooth.
