Anzac long week end

Monday 26 April
Beautiful day but a bit crisp.
Good weather for walking.
We park at the top of Long Reef and walk
to Dee Why for the "Warringah Food and Wine fair"
Long Reef golf course.
I wonder how they could play, it was soooooo
windy.
We walk around the fair.
You had to get tickets for the wine:
3 tickets for $5 but you had to buy a
plastic glass for $5 also.
We did not see any thing we wanted to try
so we went to the Brazilian restaurant
" Coco Mar"
We both had one of their salad:
Salada de grao de bico.
(chickpeas, broccoli, pumpkin,sundried tomato,
fresh tomato, red onion, with a balsamic dressing)
I couldn't guess what herbs they put in it
but it was very nice (filling)
Then we walk back across the road to the fair
but decide to go and investigate the crowd on the rocks.

It was the Beachley surf classic,
the finals.
We saw Stephanie Gilmore
and Sally Fitzgibbons
They were near the rocks

Claude standing back not to get wet.

Sally was winning but Steph got another wave
and beat her in the last minutes.

Lynne Beachley was there to
give the trophies and the man next
to her to give the cheque of US$ 20 000
to the winner

Sally, 19y was saying that she has enough
of always coming second.
Poor girl she was winning for so long to be
beaten right at the end.
Stephanie Gilmore, 22y
world champion for the 3rd time.
Both girls are Australian.

Sally, Lynne and Stephanie.
We had a very good day, watching the surfing
for the first time for us. We thought that the
finals was yesterday so it was ans added bonus to our day.
Then we had to walk all the way back to Long Reef.
