Monday 8 June
Day seven
We were picked up at 8.20 am
by a 4 X 4 truck " Billy tea safari.
Some of the people (few trucks)
were coming from Cairns so they
were dying for a coffee, so we made
a stop at Mossman.
the sugar cane train still crossed the road.
at the schedule coffee stop we were shown a baby crocodile
and some beautiful butterflies
We then abandoned the truck for a boat
down the Daintree river
and we saw a LOT of crocodiles
a lot of crocs, all different sizes
I love the mangroves
After one hour cruise, we landed and were picked
up again by our truck.
At this stop, our guide was telling us about Cassowaries,
when one and his chick crossed the path just
in front of us.
I was so interested in the bird that I forgot about photo
( if you blow up the photo below you might be able
to glimpse the red and blue, beautiful)
a candle climbing fern.
at our lunch stop I took a photo of this plaster
cassowary
they had an enclosure with orphan and injured kangaroos
we fed them sliced sweet potatoes,
they liked it
chairs and table where we sat for lunch.
somebody with a sense of humour defaced the sign
We stopped at Emmagen creek for a billy tea
afternoon tea with damper and tasting of fresh
tropical fruits. they were delicious, some of
them I have never seen before
Only a Belgium guy and I had a swim.
It was very fresh and lot of little fishes came
to have a nibble at us.
Cape Tribulation
the beach
Our last stop was at the ice cream factory.
Claude and I shared one.
